Sydney is one of the best locations in the world to party during New Years Eve. There are so many options it’s hard to choose what to do! We are blessed with New Years Eve falling in the Summer season, so outdoor activities are usually the first choice.

However parties at home are popular options as well. Sydney fireworks are spectacular and a must see, voted one of the best fireworks displays in the world, Sydney knows how to host a party!

Island Parties – Situated in the stunning surrounds of Sydney harbour, Clarke Island and Bradley’s Head Mast Precinct are the ultimate picnic locations with an exclusive view of the harbour (accessible via water taxi & ferry – tickets include food, live music and spectacular views). These places are perfect for families and large groups.

The Island is another hot Sydney party spot this NYE, floating on Darling Harbour, this club floats around the harbour giving you a premium view of the fireworks. The exclusion zone packages can be pricey and sell out fast and premium drink packages are included with canapés & water taxi transfers to ensure you enjoy your NYE in style!

Darling Harbour & The Rocks – Perfect for the all night partier! Darling Harbour is sprawled with an array of popular bars and clubs – the options are endless… Cruise Bar, The Glenmore Hotel, Café del Mar, Cargo bar, Bungalow 8 & Opera Bar just to name a few.

If you want drinks, dancing with a front & centre view of the fireworks then you can’t go past these bars and clubs! Tickets range in pricing depending on the packages you choose, but get in fast as tickets sell out quickly and get in early to save on early bird tickets.

Dinner cruises are also a fun and popular way to celebrate in style and see the fireworks first hand while on the water with panoramic views of the fireworks. You will get a bird’s eye view from a ideal vantage point.

From North to the East – Luna Park is also a very popular venue, featuring rides, Dj’s, food & drinks and of course amazing views of the Harbour fireworks! You really can’t go wrong with this venue! Bring your dancing shoes – tickets vary and VIP packages are available.

The Greens at North Sydney is also a show stopper, situated in a renovated bowls club with views across the city and over the Harbour Bridge it’s a perfect entertainment spot.

Tickets include a gourmet 3 course menu with drinks on arrival, it has a casual and fun vibe – perfect for both families & groups. It includes Dj’s and live music also!

Watson’s Bay Boutique Hotel is also a great NYE spot, located right on the harbour on the east side, it’s a sophisticated open air bar and restaurant- featuring live music, food & ferry access. It’s a flashy venue with water view and is just an all-round classy event!

Money Savers – If you still want a view of the fireworks along with a drink and some nibbles, do it yourself! Pack a picnic and find a good spot around the Harbour. There are plenty of free locations (be careful as some spots are tickets only).

Some great Sydney spots include; Cremorne Point, Civic Park North Sydney, Balls Head Waverton, Blue’s Point Reserve (close to the epicentre of fireworks display and offers one if the best views). Milsons Point Bradfield Park is also great – located close to the centre of the action of the firework’s, as well as North Head, Balmain and Pyrmont Bay Park.

Tips – Get in early to get a prime position! Bring your walking shoes (as you could be walking a lot and not to mention amongst the crowds).

Bring a trolley for convenience that way you can bring all the food and drink you want without breaking your shoulder from lugging it around all night (be careful as a lot of locations don’t permit alcohol so be discreet!)

Party time / Do it yourself – Gather the friends and have a house party! Setting a theme for the party is even more fun to do. Hawaiian theme’s are popular or even with a fancy dress theme you can’t go wrong.

Get everyone to bring a plate of food each and BYO drinks as this time of year can get pricey – so providing everything yourself could be costly.

Homemade punch is always a hit along with mixer drinks and cocktails – delegate someone to be in charge of the cocktails and set a cocktail menu, no more than 3 cocktails so it doesn’t get too complicated.

If you can’t see the fireworks, turn the TV on to the live broadcast of the fireworks and do a countdown, have fun with sparklers and whistles.

Make sure you have your perfect NYE party playlist to party your night away into 2017!
